End of Act III

John finally admitted to seeing the devil. He said and I quote "A fire, a fire is burning! I hear the boot of Lucifer, I see his filthy face! And it is my face, and yours, Danforth! For them that quail to bring men out of ignorance, as I have quailed, and as you quail now when you know in all your black hearts that this be fraud- God damns our kind especially, and we will burn, we will burn together!" What he said to me was as good as confessing that he was the culprit of all of this. I wasn't not going to send him to jail for saying that. I also had to send Giles Corey to jail along with Proctor. Then all top of all of that Mr. Hale stormed out of the court and said he was quiting the court. We are all going to miss having him around the courthouse. Now I need John to sign a piece of paper to prove to everyone that he did it!

Today, I though is was going to get at least a little bit better since yesterday was a disaster, but it only got worse.John Proctor came down to my courtroom and demand that his wife be released. They must be sadly mistaken because I will never do that even though John said that Abigail is a fraud and she is lying about the whole thing, but why should I trust John. I heard that he had an affair with that Abigail girl so he isnt very trustworthy. He tried to tell me that Elizabeth has never lied or courted with the devil. I don't believe Corey either because he turned in his own wife! I believe the girls in this town more than the adults. I believe that witchcraft is going on and the girls are in the center of it. They are not proven liars llike John Proctor!

He is probably hiding more secrets from me but if he tells me it will only hurt his cause. If he continues to act like this, then he is probably going to end up in jail just like the rest of this town. I'm hoping that I get everyone in this town that is involved with the devil  arrested, so I can clean up Salem.

Today, Giles Corey had the nerve to walk into MY courtroom and interrupt me as I was talking to the court and he expects me to listen to what he had to say. He said "I have evidence.", and he kept going on and on about how he can prove that his wife is innocent. I finally had to take back control of the courtroom by saying how I had the power to kill almost four hundred people back in my home town. I think that shut him up. I was about this close to throwing him in jail and let the witches have a turn at him. And don't even get me started on the so-called "women" in this community. I thought this town was supposed to be holy and religious but there is nothing holy about what they have been doing. I do not know how I have not been sent here sooner and further invesigated this earlier. Someone told me they have suspected this for a long time but they choose to keep their mouth shut in fear of being ruled a suspect. Today has been the longest day ever and I hope everything will settle down tomorrow but if not there will be more people arrested tomorrow.
